The Arkansas Arts Center is an art museum with a children's theatre and a studio school. Founded in 1961, its mission is to ensure that learning, inspiration and creative expression in the arts flourish throughout Arkansas, for people of all ages and backgrounds. The AAC realizes this mission by developing, preserving and exhibiting its outstanding permanent collection, offering a rich variety of art from other collections and presenting programs for the education and cultural benefit of the public. | ![]() |

You'll also find a wonderful museum store, living history theater, educational areas and much more. The Historic Arkansas Museum, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is accredited by the American Association of Museums. | ![]() |
| Museum
Of Discovery |
The
Museum of Discovery is a collecting institution, meaning that we acquire
and hold artifacts that are relevant to our mission statement. The Museum
contains approximately 14,000 artifacts, which can be grouped into two major
categories: Life/Earth Science and Anthropological/Historical objects. The
Historical collections include Native American pottery and baskets, Little
Rock Fire Department History, sculpture, multicultural masks, fans, Egyptian
artifacts, Kewpie Dolls, and even broader ranging areas. Arkansas-related
items are of primary importance to the Museum, but a more multicultural
element also introduces visitors to people and culture throughout the world.

| The
Old State House Museum |
Visitors
to the Old State House Museum will be able to see the museum's collection
of Arkansas's First Ladies' Gowns. The collection began in 1942 and is
not only one of the most popular exhibits in the museum, but is also one
of the most unique collections of its kind in the United States. Throughout
the years, the gowns have reflected fashion trends in Arkansas and the
United States. An example of stylistic change is evident in the contrast
between Eula Terral's flapper-style dress of satin embroidered with over
4,000 rhinestones and seed pearls to the simple lines of Anne McMath's
velvet and rhinestone gown. |

Central
High School Museum and Visitor Center |
A half-century
after nine courageous black teenagers attempted to enter the previously
all white Central High School, nearly 2,000 visitors, many of them former
Central High School students themselves, attended the dedication of Little
Rock Central High School National Historic Site’s new visitor center.
Each member of the Little Rock Nine was escorted onstage by a current member of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division.
